Alyssa will be the first out LGBTQ woman elected to serve Jamestown!


Alyssa Porter and her spouse chose Jamestown as their home when she began working with the Chautauqua Institution as the Director of Youth and Family Programs. She is passionate about building thriving neighborhoods, creating strong communities, and advocating for all residents of our city. She believes in the future of Jamestown and the promise of what can be achieved through public service.  
Alyssa’s professional experience spans education, the arts, summer camps, STEM programming, and municipal recreation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Ursuline College and a master’s degree in recreation administration and leisure studies from the University of Toledo.  
Alyssa currently serves on the boards of Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and volunteers with The United Way of Southern Chautauqua County. Additionally, she is a proud lifelong Girl Scout member.
