Amy Mathieu

Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas

Amy will be an important voice for equality in Allegheny County!

Biography

Amy started her career clerking for the only openly LGBTQ+ judge in Allegheny County. While there, she played a role in starting the Name Change Court, a monthly celebratory court session for trans individuals seeking legal gender-affirming names.

Since then, Amy has spent her career fighting for those who often struggle with, or are left behind by, the legal system. She has represented survivors/victims of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and workplace discrimination. She has stood next to survivors in a courtroom and fought for their voices to be heard. Amy has taken on institutions and corporations, like the Catholic Church, that have wronged individuals. Now, she wants to lead a courtroom with compassion, empathy, and fairness for all people.
