Danté Anderson

Charlotte City Council, District 1

She would be the first out LGBTQ+ member to serve on her seat!

Biography

Dante is a native daughter of South Charlotte, born and raised in District 1. As a poor African American girl reared in public and low-income housing, She experienced housing instability and food insecurity throughout her childhood that so many Charlotte residents face today. Yet, if one were to tell her the possibility of improving her desired outcomes barely existed based on her location in the city, She would have rebuked that notion. She was hopeful, encouraged to reach higher, and keenly believed possibility could become reality.

Dante’s public education armed her with the appropriate knowledge and skillset to successfully navigate three degrees of higher education and create new achievement results for her family. She was able to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and become an electrical engineer.

Dante has over 25 years of business experience creating jobs, running companies, and being a champion of equitable opportunity. She has decades of civic engagement serving on boards, being a mentor, an advocate, and a servant leader in the community. She has a global citizen mindset and incorporates diversity of thought with strong leadership.
