Biography

Ariana Arestegui is a daughter of Mexican immigrants and a lifelong resident of Garden Grove. She’s running for city council to represent the community where she was born and raised. After graduating from California State University, Northridge she began working to elect progressive leaders in Orange County. From 2021-2023 Arestegui served as a Planning Commissioner in Garden Grove. Currently, she serves in the city’s Parks, Recreation, and Arts Commission. In 2024 she was elected to the Democratic Party of Orange County’s Central Committee in Assembly District 70. Ariana lives in East Garden Grove in her childhood home with her parents and brother. She has two rescue dogs and a Belgian Malinois named Kurama. When she’s not advocating for progressive causes, she’s fishing in the Eastern Sierra or visiting a National Park. If elected, Arestegui will be the first out LGBTQ+ woman elected in Garden Grove’s history.
