Ben Ku

Gwinnett County Commissioner, District 2

Ben will be the only openly LGBTQ person on the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners

Ben is not a career politician. He is, however, a creative problem solver who believes that government should demonstrate care for its citizenry—ALL of its citizenry—in everything it does. As commissioner, Ben will fight for transportation investments that will ready Gwinnett for the population changes already on our horizon, as well as expand accessibility measures that will make the inclusion of all Gwinnettians a basic governing principle not just an empty slogan.

The grandson of Chinese immigrants, Ben hails from a long line of visionaries. His grandfather helped engineer Atlanta’s MARTA rail and he hopes to build on that legacy by bringing rapid transit to Gwinnett County.

Ben’s election to the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners places diversity in action. He brings an empathetic ear and powerful voice to reflect the multitude colors and identities that make up the fabric of Gwinnett. Ben is a passionate multiprenuer and a proud Summa Cum Laude graduate of Georgia Tech. He serves his community on his HOA board and has been an active volunteer and board member of the Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy.
