Bonnie will continue to be a voice for equality in the Maryland House of Delegates
Bonnie Cullison is a life-long educator and LGBT activist. She worked in Maryland’s public schools for 31 years, ending her career in Montgomery County Public Schools. During that time, she was a leader at the local and national level of the National Education Association (NEA).
From 2003 to 2009, Bonnie served as the president of the Montgomery County Education Association, with 11,500 members. During those years she established new levels of collaborative working relationships with school system leaders. As a result, many new programs were put into place in which students have flourished and employees were viewed as the most essential assets of the system.
Bonnie was elected to Maryland House of Delegates in 2010 to represent the residents of District 19 in Montgomery County. She serves on the Health and Government Operations Committee. She considers herself fortunate to be in a legislature with many other openly LGBT members and staff. She is proud of the advances that have been made over these 8 years in the recognition of our community, strengthening protections against discrimination, passing marriage equality and prohibiting conversion therapy by licensed professionals on youth.
Bonnie lives in Aspen Hill, Maryland, with her partner of 34 years, Marcia. They were grateful and elated (it was a BIG party) to be legally married in 2013.
