Bryan Gatewood

Jefferson Family Court

Bryan will continue to be an important voice on the Kentucky bench!

Biography

Bryan is a Family Court Judge in Louisville, Kentucky. He and his husband of twenty years are the adoptive parents of three beautiful children. They live in a historic home on an active 31 acre farm with 41 sheep, one miniature donkey, seven chickens, four ducks, three Guineas, two Great Pyrenees, two cats and one Great Dane named Axle.

Before becoming a judge, Bryan had his own law practice, and worked in the Family Court system as a Guardian Ad Litem advocate for abused and neglected children, where he came to understand the importance of adoption. Bryan was involved with the Louisville Fairness Campaign, and assisted in drafting Louisville’s non-discrimination law nearly 25 years ago. He is the first married, openly gay man appointed to the Jefferson Family Court, or any Family Court in Kentucky.
