Catherine Fray

Carrboro Town Council

Catherine will be one of the first nonbinary people elected to office in North Carolina!

Catherine Fray is running for Town Council in Carrboro. They have served on the Carrboro Planning Board for 10 years, including two terms as chair. They also co-chaired the 2020-2022 Carrboro Connects comprehensive plan task force and contributed to the plan on housing affordability and land use topics. Catherine believes that access to safe and affordable housing is a human right. Carrboro’s vision and values call for the town to rise to meet that need. Raised in rural Rockingham county, Catherine graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and then put down roots in Carrboro in 2010. They live with their wife Amy and a small army of foster kittens off of Jones Ferry Road. When they are not nerding out about housing, they work as a consultant on accounting software implementation projects.
