Christy is the first millennial and the first out bisexual person to serve on the Palm Springs City Council
Christy Gilbert Holstege was first elected to the Palm Springs City Council in November 2017. She is the first millennial and the first out bisexual person to run for and be elected to the City Council. She joined the very first all-LGBTQ city council in the country. She serves on regional and statewide boards and subcommittees, including with Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, Coachella Valley Association of Governments, and the League of California Cities, focusing on economic development, homelessness and affordable housing. Prior to being elected, Christy worked as a social justice and civil rights attorney, representing low-income and underserved communities of the Coachella Valley, including people with disabilities, LGBTQ clients, homeless clients, injured workers, and victims of discrimination and violence. Christy earned a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara.
