Dominique Johnson is the Democratic nominee for State Representative of the 143rd District (Norwalk/Westport). She currently serves as a two-term at-large member of Norwalk’s Common Council where she proudly represents each resident in every neighborhood of Connecticut’s sixth largest city. As Chair of the Community Services Committee of the Common Council, Dominique works to improve the quality of life for all of Norwalk’s residents in collaboration with the City and its community partners. They are a former public college professor and published researcher, authoring more than 20 articles, reports, and book chapters, mostly on LGBTQ+ issues in education, including the first study to examine the benefits of informal mentoring on the educational resilience of sexual minority youth (in 2009). Dominique earned a Ph.D. in Urban Education Policy from Temple University, anMA in Communication from Stanford University, and a BA in Communication Studies from Bryn Mawr College.
