Biography
Eddie Sundquist is a native of Jamestown, New York, currently serves as the City’s 25th Mayor, and is the first LGBTQ+ mayor. While taking office back in 2020, Eddie guided the community though the COVID pandemic, setting up free vaccine clinics and test distribution centers throughout the City. Now focused on the recovery of Jamestown, he has worked tirelessly to administer over $28 million in federal rescue plan dollars, focused on supporting senior citizen and low-to-middle income housing improvement projects. Through his first term, the City has seen record investment in capital projects, helped create hundreds of new jobs through direct grants to local businesses, and partnered with unions to improve working conditions for employees throughout the City. Eddie is the first in his family to graduate from college, earning his Bachelor’s, summa cum laude from St. John Fisher College, and began his career as a middle school science teacher in Philadelphia. After working with kids in alternative education system for several years, and obtaining an Masters from the University of Pennsylvania, Eddie decided to move back closer to home. After pursuing a law degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law, Eddie moved back to Jamestown and proudly practiced law, helping to serve the same community that raised him.
