Biography

Elected to office in 2019, in addition to strong communication skills, Gaitley brings experience in administration, community building, and a commitment to fiscal responsibility. He currently serves as the City Council Liaison to the Glen Cove Senior Center, is a member of the Memorial Day Parade Committee, and serves on the Advisory Board of Age-Friendly Glen Cove. A long-time advocate for the arts and community involvement, Gaitley is a founding member of NOSH, a division of the North Shore Soup Kitchen, is a Trustee of the North Shore Historical Museum, serves as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church, and is an associate member of Calvary A.M.E Church. Additionally, he is chairman of the Committee for the Bilingual Community Easter Dawn Service involving eight area churches, and is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is honored to serve on the Advisory Council of the Morgan Park Summer Music Festival.
In addition to his work as a councilman, Gaitley is a voice and speech coach, worked in arts administration, and was the Artistic Director of a theatre company for many years. Gaitley holds an AA Degree in Business, a BA in English Literature, a Masters in Theatre, and has additional administrative training via San Francisco’s Support Center for Nonprofit Management. He is also a proud union member, belonging to the AFL-CIO (Actor’s Equity Association) for more than thirty years.
