Biography
Joseph Geierman has served as Mayor of the City of Doraville, GA since January 2020. Prior to that, he served on the Doraville City Council as well as its Planning Commission. While on City Council, Geierman helped pass the first municipal non-discrimination ordinance in over 15 years, helping set off a wave of other local jurisdictions passing similar legislation. Geierman has an undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a master’s degree in building construction and facility management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Since 2009, he has worked for a large law firm, where he is director of real estate and facilities. A native of Southern California, he lives with his husband, B.J. Abbott, and their dog Polar.
