Cecelia will be an essential voice for equality in Nevada!
Cecelia González is a Las Vegas native, a Thai-Mexican American, and the proud daughter of immigrants. Cecelia was the first in her family to graduate high school, college, and post-graduate studies. Her research focuses on the school-to-prison-pipeline, women in prisons, and interpersonal violence. Cecelia will begin her doctoral studies this fall in Multicultural Education.
As a community activist, she has dedicated her life to the multidimensional issues of criminal justice reform. Cecelia has been a leader on the #Fight4AFuture Leadership Council, a national organization that helps promote progressive solutions to key political and social challenges with Generation Progress. She was first attracted to this organization due to its gun violence, criminal justice reform, and campus sexual assault campaigns. Cecelia is also a Reproductive and Sexual Rights Educator with Amnesty International USA, one of the biggest human rights organizations in the world. In this role, she provides training on sexual and reproductive rights and how to defend reproductive justice in different parts of the country. As an educator, Cecelia is passionate about breaking barriers to equitable education for all.
