Biography

Rev. Darrell L. Goodwin is a trusted civic leader, public theologian, and the first Black and openly queer Executive Conference Minister of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, where he serves over 600 congregations. With a 25-year track record of servant leadership, Darrell has worked at the intersection of faith, education, and justice, championing equity, inclusion, and community empowerment in every role he’s held.

Now a proud resident of Bloomfield, Darrell is running for Town Council to ensure local government reflects the people it serves, responsive, transparent, and rooted in care. His campaign centers on community-driven economic development, public safety grounded in trust and equity, and expanding access to town resources for all residents.

As a queer Black man, Darrell understands the importance of creating spaces where everyone can belong and thrive. He has been a consistent voice for LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, racial equity, and multi-faith collaboration. His candidacy is an invitation to build a Bloomfield where more people are welcomed to the table and no one is left behind.

Darrell holds multiple degrees in education and theology and brings a collaborative, compassionate, and visionary leadership style to all he does.
