Scotty Hernandez

Oklahoma City School Board, District 4

Scotty will be the first out gay first-generation Mexican-American man to serve on the Oklahoma City Public School Board!

Scotty Hernandez proudly calls OKC home; it’s where he grew up, attended public school, and now lives with his partner Derek and their three rescue dogs. A real estate agent, Scotty serves as Oklahoma President of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and is the incoming President for PFLAG, promoting equality for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Growing up working-class and facing challenges as a Hispanic student, Scotty knows the positive impact a good education has on future success. With 90% of OKCPS students living in poverty, and nearly 60% of students being Hispanic, Scotty will advocate for positive change by keeping politics out of the classroom – ensuring access to critical services, providing resources for bilingual students, empowering parents voices’, and expanding options to meet a wider range of needs for our kids.
