Ian Mackey

Missouri House of Representatives, 87

Ian would be a voice for LGBTQ equality in a low equality state.

Biography

For the past several years, Ian has taught young children in the classroom and experienced both sides of Missouri’s adversarial legal system through his work at the St. Louis City Circuit Attorney’s Office and Arch City Defenders. Ian and his husband are also veterans of numerous bipartisan and Democratic political campaigns, including the prior campaigns of State Representative Stacey Newman, the campaigns of rural Missouri Democratic candidates for the state legislature, campaigns to protect collective bargaining rights for public employees, and the campaigns of President Obama and Secretary Clinton. These experiences have fueled Ian’s passion for public service. After graduating from Westminster College where he helped pay his own tuition each year by working in Secretary of State Robin Carnahan’s Office, Ian came to understand how complex government regulations worked, and didn’t work, in Missourians’ every day lives.
