Biography

James Chang is a Commissioner on the Berkeley Rent Board where he currently Chairs the Outreach Committee, serves on the Budget & Personnel Committee and is a senior member on the Eviction & Section 8 Committee. Professionally, he serves as a Legislative Aide at the City of Berkeley. Politically, he is the Vice President of Finance for an East Bay Young Political Organization, and Secretary for the East Bay Stonewall Political Organization that does LGBTQ advocacy in the Bay Area. In his state political activism, he is the Vice-Chair for the CA Young Political Party’s LGBTQ Caucus. Among his young elected peers, he serves as the Young Elected Officials Interim Chair of the LGBTQ Caucus. Recently, James worked at Yelp and served as Chair of OUTBurst, an LGBTQ employee resource group. In 2013. James graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a dual bachelor degree in Political Economy and Chinese.
