James Michael will be the first out LGBTQ+ councilmember to be reelected to the Lincoln City Council!
Biography
James is a lifelong resident of North Lincoln and a graduate of Northeast High School. He’s a social worker, a small business owner in Havelock, and City Councilman for Northeast Lincoln. On the City Council, he introduced and passed a ban on price gouging during the pandemic, supported the families of first responders killed in the line of duty, and has been a strong voice for equality. He was proud to introduce and pass a ban on so-called conversion therapy, and reduce regulations on businesses serving working families. During a budget crunch, he focused on keeping our libraries open and accessible. As president of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Board of Health, he works with city and county partners to guide the city out of the pandemic and advocate for a healthier Lincoln. He has worked as a Social Worker in Lincoln Public Schools (LPS), and founded and currently operates my own private therapy practice. He’s running for re-election so he can keep fighting for working families, keep our community safe, keep small businesses thriving, repair our streets and bridges, and hold the line on property taxes.
