James Michael Bowers is a lifelong resident of North Lincoln, and a graduate of Northeast High School. I’m a social worker at Dawes Middle School, a small business owner in Havelock, and current City Councilman for Northeast Lincoln. He is running for Nebraska Legislature in District 46.
On the City Council, he worked hard to lead Lincoln through the pandemic. He introduced and passed a ban on price gouging in the pandemic, and supported the families of first responders who are killed in the line of duty, and passed a ban on so-called Conversion Therapy. During a budget crunch, he kept libraries open and accessible for all.
In addition to his work on the City Council, James is a social worker at Dawes Middle School, and founded and currently operate his own private therapy practice. Before Dawes, he worked at the Child Guidance Center, Bryan Health, and with the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, where he developed coalitions and strategies to improve Nebraska’s foster care system.
As current President for the Lincoln-Lancaster County Board of Health, he work with city and county partners to guide the community out of the pandemic and advocate for a healthier Lincoln.
James is running so he can keep working for the community that has been such an important part of his life.
