Tampa has become one of the most desirable cities in America. Before becoming mayor, she was a 31-year veteran of the Tampa Police Department serving in nearly every capacity of the department and every area of the city. She became the first woman to be named police Chief in the City of Tampa in 2009. She served six years in that role, successfully managing massive events including the 2012 Republican National Convention and Superbowl, presiding over a dramatic reduction in the crime rate with progressive, community-focused policies, and emerging as a leading national authority on effective law enforcement. Mayor Jane lives in Seminole Heights, with her longtime partner Ana Cruz and four rescue dogs. She has two sons, Sergei and Seely.
