Biography

Jason Lyon is an attorney in Pasadena, California. Reared in North Carolina, Jason proudly attended public schools from kindergarten through law school. Jason is a life-long leader and volunteer. He co- founded a non-profit at age 14, and by 16, he served on the first of many boards of directors.

In his work life, Jason was a documentary film producer before earning his JD at the UCLA School of Law. He began his legal career at the global firm Latham & Watkins. In 2017, Jason joined Pasadena’s historic Hahn & Hahn, becoming the esteemed firm’s first openly LGBTQ partner. As a member of the litigation group, Jason’s practice focuses on complex commercial disputes.

Jason has been a lifelong advocate for justice and equity. He has served in a variety of elected and appointed roles in Los Angeles city government, including two terms on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. Since moving to Pasadena in 2010, Jason has served on a variety of nonprofit boards, including his current role as a director of Planned Parenthood Pasadena San Gabriel Valley. Jason is presently the Vice Chair of Pasadena’s city Planning Commission.

In 2014, Jason and his husband, Tim, agreed to appear with their two young sons in Honey Maid’s “This is Wholesome” ad campaign. It was the first national television commercial to feature prominently a same-sex couple. A subsequent video about the overwhelming public support for the campaign, titled “Love,” became a viral hit on the internet.

Jason is running for the District 7 seat on the Pasadena City Council.
