Judge Jerry Simoneaux brings knowledge and experience together with compassion and innovation. This year he celebrates 20 years as an attorney and seven years as a judge–four years at the Houston Municipal Courts and three years in Probate Court 1. He is a certified mediator and an Accredited Veterans Administration Attorney. He also served briefly as a staff attorney and as an adjunct law professor. His former law practice concentrated on probate litigation and appeals. Several of his cases are cited in practice manuals.

He is currently in his second term as a Director on the Board of the Houston Volunteer Lawyers and as a Legislative Committee member of the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is the founder and president of the Texas Probate Law American Inn of Court promoting professionalism, civility, knowledge, and mentoring of newer attorneys.

Judge Simoneaux frequently speaks at continuing education seminars such as the Texas College of Probate Judges (teaching other judges about probate law), the State Bar of Texas, and local bar associations throughout the state. This year, he had the honor of being selected by the National Center for State Courts as one of only five national delegates to participate in the 4th National Guardianship Summit, which occurs only every 10 years. This group focused on improving guardianship laws in all states.
