Biography

Dr. John Ronquillo is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs where he researches in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and currently serves as the co-chair of the university’s Equity Task Force. John teaches courses in organizational behavior, public service leadership and ethics, and public management. In 2018, he was honored with the CU Online Innovator Award for the creative and technological enhancement of his online courses and was recognized with his school’s award for Excellence in Service and Leadership in 2020.

John has authored or produced numerous works on topics ranging from servant leadership to ethics and social equity and has given over 80 lectures or research presentations at the annual meetings of several research associations, by invitation of numerous universities, and in over a dozen countries. He is highly engaged in his community and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Servicios de La Raza and the Arapahoe County Foundation, Inc., and on the Colorado COVID-19 Eviction Defense Project Advisory Council.

As a city council member, John hopes to help boost economic opportunity and security for residents, heal and repair relationships between the community and police and ensure justice and due process prevail, and reform and improve Aurora’s local government infrastructure to better serve its residents.
