Josh will be the first openly gay black man elected to the Georgia state legislature
Josh is a proud native son of Georgia and lifelong resident. Born in Augusta and raised in Columbus and Newnan, Josh’s parents instilled in him the belief that service is your duty and responsibility to your community.
A product of Georgia’s public schools, Josh graduated from Newnan High in 2002 and went on to attend Morehouse College, graduating with honors in 2006. After college, Josh began working professionally as a Strategies and Operations Consultant before switching careers to work in Healthcare Sales where he presently works as a Sales Trainer responsible for the development of the sales force for one of the world’s largest healthcare diagnostic companies.
Josh has served his community through mentoring and volunteering with various community and civic organizations. He has served as the Finance Chair for Young Democrats of Atlanta, Public Safety Chair for NPU-T, the 1st Vice President of the West End Neighborhood Development (WEND), Secretary of the Fulton County HIV/AIDS Advisory Committee, and as a member of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms’ LGBTQ Advisory Board. In addition to his community involvement, Josh is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Human Rights Campaign Federal Club
Josh resides in Historic West End with his husband Adrian.
