Joshua will be a critical LGBTQ voice in the Florida State House
Joshua is a native Floridian, raised by a single mother, who raised three boys, while working multiple jobs. Joshua went to public schools in Tallahassee, Florida before attending Tallahassee Community College and double majoring in political and social science at Florida State University, graduating in 2007.
After his education, Joshua dedicated his career to giving back and making a difference in the non-profit sector. He’s worked for the People for the American Way Foundation, the Service Employees International Union, the League of Conservation Voters, and currently with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. He’s also served on the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence’s Young Professionals Board and is a member of the Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus.
Joshua lives in Jacksonville, about five minutes from the beaches, with his husband Phillip, and their four dachshunds – Dexter, Dirk, Lady and Max. They chose Jacksonville to be their forever home after falling in love with the people, small businesses, beaches, and sense of community. Phillip and Joshua were married in 2019 in San Marco, Florida and are on a waiting list to adopt their first child. You can find Joshua, in his spare time, spending it at the beach, playing golf or tennis, being involved in the community, and going for a run.
