Julie sits on the only all-LGBTQ city council in the US, and is now running for mayor
Julie A. Carson was re-elected to the Wilton Manors City Commission in November of 2016, and was first elected to office in 2010. She is a paralegal with Vertical Bridge REIT, LLC in Boca Raton, where she coordinates legal matters related to the acquisition and leasing of cellular towers.
In 2018, Commissioner Carson was a foster parent to a 4-year old boy who was ultimately adopted by her brother and his family in Tucson, Arizona. During this period, Commissioner Carson delighted in her time as a “foster Mother” and continues to be involved with Agencies that assist children and families in South Florida. Commissioner Carson was honored with the 2015 Equality Florida Community Partner for Equality Award; is a 2014 recipient of the Trans Equality Award; a 2012 National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment Voices of Leadership Honoree, and was given the 2012 Community Award for Outstanding Service by The Aqua Foundation for Women. She is a member of various groups and organizations and a thoughtful advocate for equality. Commissioner Carson is committed to animal welfare and champions the rights of the elderly, transgender, marginalized, and disabled in the City and beyond.
Julie is a 1983 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a major in Spanish. She was a State and National age-group ranked triathlete and has successfully completed more than 100 triathlons. Julie also enjoys horseback riding and spending time with family.
