Golden Valley City Council

Kimberly will be the first openly queer woman to serve on the Golden Valley City Council

Biography

Kimberly Sanberg is a strong believer in community involvement. Her first door-knocking experience was educating Minnesotans about the marriage amendment with Minnesotans United for All Families. She was a founding organizer of the Golden Valley Pride Festival, Minnesota’s first suburban LGBTQ pride festival, and serves on Golden Valley’s Open Space and Recreation Commission. Before moving to Minnesota, Kimberly lived in Washington, DC, where she volunteered at a number of LGBTQ organizations.

Throughout her career, she’s worked at small businesses and nonprofits dedicated to LGBTQ+ equality, environmental health, and peace and justice.

Kimberly is running for Golden Valley City Council because we need collaborative, forward-looking people on city council who will take action. She will bring a fresh perspective to new and existing challenges we face as a community, listen to feedback, and work collaboratively to move Golden Valley forward. She is invested in Golden Valley’s future and wants to build a Golden Valley that will be great for her kids for the next 50+ years. Kimberly lives in Golden Valley, Minnesota with her wife, two children, and two dogs.
