Lauren will be one of the first LGBTQ people elected to the Philly City Council


Lauren has over a decade of experience working in and around Philadelphia City Government. As a legislative aide for City Council, she successfully sued Mayor Michael Nutter to prevent the closure of numerous city library branches during the Great Recession. Lauren was then hired by the same Mayor Nutter to serve as an Assistant Finance Director, where she worked on a diverse array of policy issues related to taxation, pensions, and the city’s overall financial health.

She is also a community activist, entrepreneur, and municipal finance expert. As Pennsylvania’s statewide Voter Protection Director for President Obama’s re-election campaign, Vidas fought for fair and equal voting access for all Pennsylvanians. Lauren most recently worked with financial advisory firm PFM to lead a national strategy for providing municipalities and government entities with financial, budgetary and management guidance.
