Len will continue to be a voice for equality on the Chatham Borough Council.

Biography

Len is a 23 year resident of Chatham Borough and has been a member of the Chatham Borough Council from 2010 to 2013 and from 2016 through the present. As part of his duties, Len is the Council Liaison to the Borough’s Environmental Commission, which oversees the “Pay as you Throw” program. Before seeking elective office, Len was a member and subsequently Chair of the Environmental Commission and the Green Initiatives Advisory Committee, which is now combined as a sub-set of the Environmental Commission.

Len is a graduate of New Jersey City University in Jersey City, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in both History and Secondary Education. Len has recently retired from a 42 year career in the insurance industry, mainly as a risk manager for Fortune 500 Companies; however, Len’s insurance career featured stints both as an insurance underwriter and an insurance broker. Len retired to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University intending to transition into a second career as a municipal administrator.

Len is also a member of the Morris County Board of Transportation and the Morris County Strategic Planning Commission. He is President of the New Jersey Association of Railroad Passengers, a rail advocacy group promoting better rail transit in New Jersey. Len served for 10 years on the Board of the New Jersey City University Foundation, his alma mater. Len is a co-Leader of the Gen Y Job Networking Group, a group that helps recent college graduates with finding their first position of employment. Len is a Board Trustee of the Gay Activist Alliance in Morris County. Finally, Len is a leader with the Morris County Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and was most recently named a Trustee of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)- Northern New Jersey.
