Marcony is the first openly LGBTQ elected official in Everett
Marcony Almeida-Barros is the Director of Committee Engagement for Attorney General Maura Healey, handling outreach and public relations on issues such as school bullying and opioid abuse. Marcony was also an adjunct professor at Northeastern University and previously served as the former Acting Director of the Mass Office of Immigrants and Refugees. During his brief time on the Everett School Committee, Marcony has secured funding grants for laptops so students can practice for state testing which is done online, as well as working with the Mass Housing and Shelter Alliance to obtain a $30,000 grant for homeless student and their families. Marcony was able to renew the program for the current school year with another $25,000 grant. Additionally, he helped facilitate a student mentoring program and even started office hours to parents could bring concerns directly to him.
