Matthew Wilson

Georgia House of Representatives, District 80

Matthew is the second openly gay man ever elected to the Georgia State Legislature

Representative Matthew Wilson is a trial lawyer in Brookhaven and former public-school teacher. He was elected in 2018 to represent Georgia House District 80, covering parts of Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Chamblee, and Atlanta. He is only the second openly gay man to ever be elected to the Georgia General Assembly and serves on the Judiciary, Education, and Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committees.

In just his first year in elected office, Matthew has already successfully passed local tax relief for his constituents, passed by both Republican chambers and signed by Georgia’s Republican governor. Matthew has also led the effort for common-sense, progressive policies, including introducing bills to ban conversion therapy in Georgia, create a “red-flag” law to prevent gun violence, and stop gerrymandering through a citizen-led, independent redistricting commission.
