After nearly a decade of service in the Coast Guard Reserves, Matt transitioned to working in the office of U.S. Senator Patty Murray where he helped veterans as her King County Veterans Affairs Director. Matt then spent two years in the private sector, working as the Government and Community Relations Associate for Vulcan Inc. where he co-managed their corporate sponsorship budget of $500,000. He was then compelled to return to public service and started in 2019 as the Director of External affairs for Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib until the Lt. Governor stepped down from office. Matt believes that parks can have such a positive impact for children, and he will use this lens for his decision making during his term.
