Biography
Melissa Easley is a mom, small business owner, and lifelong educator with 19 years of classroom experience, including a decade teaching in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She earned her Master’s in Online Teaching and Learning and is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Elected to the CMS Board in 2022, Melissa has focused on equity, transparency, and closing achievement gaps while championing teacher recruitment and retention. She connects directly with families through her Chalk Talk newsletter and Minute with Melissa forums, making school board decisions accessible to
the community.
In addition to her public service, Melissa runs Rhythm & Exposure Media, a local business that partners with nonprofits and community organizations to connect causes with support. As a parent of two CMS students, she brings the combined perspective of teacher, parent, and board member, and strongly believes strong public schools are the foundation of strong communities.
