Meredith will be one of three LGBTQ Upper Darby School Board Members
Meredith Hegg has worked in education for seventeen years, first as a high school math teacher in North Philadelphia, then as a teaching assistant in graduate school, and finally as an instructor and professor at the college level. She completed a BA in Economics at Swarthmore College, a teaching certificate in Secondary Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics at Temple University. After teaching for two years at Harvard College, she took her current position of Assistant Professor of Instruction in Mathematics at Temple University. She is committed to ensuring that every child has access to a quality public education, regardless of zip code, and to serving underrepresented communities including the LGBTQ community. An avid environmentalist and a union member, she volunteers with Citizens’ Climate Lobby, PennEnvironment, and her union, AFT Local 4531. She and her wife are raising their four-year-old twins in Clifton Heights, PA.
