Mike will continue to be an important voice for equality on the Madison Common Council!
Alder Mike Verveer was first elected to represent the Fourth Alder District (Madison’s downtown area) on the Madison Common Council in 1995. He has won re-election to the Common Council every two years since and most recently won re-election in 2021.
Verveer previously served as Common Council President and Common Council Vice President for several terms.
He has championed LGBTQ+ issues for decades and successfully sponsored numerous pieces of legislation advancing equality.
Verveer, a practicing attorney, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. He served as chief of staff to Tammy Baldwin during her entire tenure in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
