Biography

Omar Narvaez was elected as a new voice to the Dallas City Council in June 2017 representing the diverse and culturally-rich neighborhoods of District 6. For over 80 years, Council Member Narvaez’ family has lived in District 6, including the Ledbetter, La Loma and Bachman Lake neighborhoods. Omar and his partner of 23 years live in West Dallas with their beautiful dog Princess Leia.  
 
Omar’s years of public service as a community leader have earned him a reputation as a great listener and hard worker who gets things done. In his elected position as Trustee for Dallas County Schools, Omar championed living wages for working families and fought to ensure our children’s safety every single day. 
 
He has a passion for community involvement and has served as president of the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas & vice-president of League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) 4871. In 2013, he was awarded the first-ever LULAC 4871 “Nuestro Orgullo Award”.  
 
In 2018, Omar was named Best Councilmember by the Dallas Observer during his freshman term of service to the residents of Dallas and District 6
