Annise Parker

I am a former Houston Mayor who has fought her entire adult life for working people, good jobs, equal rights, and responsible government. As Houston’s mayor, I kept the city’s economy growing through the toughest recession in a generation. I balanced multi-billion-dollar budgets without raising taxes or laying off police and firefighters. I created the Hire Houston First program because know everyone who wants to work deserves the chance to earn a good-paying job.

I helped create the city’s first dedicated fund to pay for flood prevention and road repairs. I created the city’s first Sobering Center to keep people who just need treatment out of the criminal justice system.

After serving as Mayor, I led this organization.

Today, I am ready to use my experience to fight for Harris County families. I will go to the mat to fight Trump budget cuts that will hurt our seniors, families, and kids. I will make sure we are ready to respond to hurricanes and extreme weather events. I will fight to cut government waste, so we have more money for priorities like healthcare and flood prevention.

I will do whatever it takes to keep Harris County safe, affordable and thriving.
