Paul will be the first out LGBTQ elected official in Greenwood Village, CO!
Paul lives in the Sundance Hills neighborhood in Greenwood Village with his husband of 22 years, Chris, who is an attorney. Paul and Chris have two children, Brooks (9) and Cora (5). If elected, Paul would be the first openly gay person to serve on the Greenwood Village city council.
Paul grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and received his B.M. in Music Education from Capital University in Columbus. After college, he moved to the Washington, DC area, where he attended graduate school at American University and taught choral music, first at an elementary school in SE Washington, DC, and then at a private school in suburban Maryland. Paul left teaching in 2005 to pursue a Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies at the University of Maryland – College Park. He completed these studies 2010.
After moving to Colorado in 2010, Paul worked for the Education Commission of the States, a non-profit education information clearinghouse. At ECS, Paul consulted with state government officials across the country on education policy issues. Through his academic and work experience, Paul has developed extensive expertise regarding education and public policy.
Paul served as President and in other positions on the board of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators, a non-profit with a mission to support music education. He is also active in his local school’s PTCO and serves as a parent representative for the neighborhood swim team.
