Biography

As the 4th generation in his family to call Lansing home, Peter Spadafore is committed to serving his community and improving the quality of life for Lansing families, students and seniors. Peter Spadafore has served on the Lansing School Board for the past six years, helping to lead the district out of deficit, earning the respect of his colleagues and shifting the focus of the board from politics to building a better future of Lansing’s children. He helped craft the transformative Lansing Pathway Promise Bond which passed with 62% of the vote. Renovations are underway and Lansing students will soon be learning in classrooms designed for 21st Century learning. He is a proven consensus builder who will put politics aside and get to work fixing our roads, improving our schools and growing our local economy.

Peter was elected to the Lansing School Board in November of 2011 where he was selected for three consecutive terms as president. Peter is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University where he studied Social Relations and Policy with an emphasis on education policy and homeland security studies. He was also a fellow in the prestigious Michigan Political Leadership Program fellowship and named one of Lansing’s 10 over the Next Ten for 2013 and Distinguished Young Alumni by the Michigan State University Alumni Association in 2015.

Peter and his husband Daniel were married in Lansing in 2016.
