Peter will be an important voice for the LGBTQ community on the Roanoke City Council!


Peter works as a Realtor with Lichtenstein Rowan. Prior to his current positions, Peter was Executive Director of Win Virginia and has experience as a union organizer, an EMT, and an urban planner. In addition to his work, Peter has been active in labor and marriage equality campaigns across the United States and abroad. In 2017, Peter was inspired to move from activism to politics because he wanted to improve the lives of people across the Commonwealth struggling in the new global economy in impoverished communities.

Peter lives in Roanoke with his husband and their dogs, Rula and Émi, who they rescued. Peter is an avid swimmer and qualified for the 2008 US Olympic Trials. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown and master’s degree from Georgetown.

Peter is very active in the community. He serves on the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission, the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority, Roanoke Fair Housing Board, the Roanoke Valley Greenway Commission, Local Colors and is the President of the Roanoke Diversity Center. He believes that through equity and inclusion, we can build stronger community relationships that create more competitive Roanoke Valley.
