Biography

Mike Pruitt is a Navy veteran and currently working in civil rights law running for the Scottsville District seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. In the Navy, he served on two combat tours aboard ships in the Persian Gulf before joining the Office of Naval Intelligence. In addition to his work in the Navy, Mike has led housing advocacy efforts in Virginia, coordinated workforce development programs with the Urban Institute, litigated racial housing discrimination with the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, and more. He is an active member of the Albemarle Democratic Committee, Albemarle-Charlottesville NAACP, and the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review. He hopes to make Albemarle a welcoming community for future generations by expanding career opportunities in the trades and deeply investing in affordable housing.
