Rafael represents an LGBTQ legacy seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors!

Biography

During his tenure on the Board of Supervisors, Rafael Mandelman has focused on: extending protections and opportunities for LGBTQ+ people, housing the unhoused people of SF, and building + sustaining Green Infrastructure to reduce SF’s green house gas emissions. As the only openly queer person on the SF Board of Supervisors, Rafael Mandelman secured: more than $2 million for SF’s most important provider of trans and gender affirming healthcare allowing it to become more accessible to community members without insurance, a rent subsidy program for trans and gender queer community members and people living with HIV, and the first homeless shelter dedicated to serving the unique needs of unhoused LGBTQ+ people. When reelected, Rafael will continue to dedicate resources towards vulnerable queer populations, structurally address the homeless crisis, and ensure SF achieves its climate goals outlined in the 2016 Paris Climate Accord.
