Biography

Ald. Raymond Lopez was elected Alderman of the 15th Ward in 2015. Previously he was elected to serve as Democratic Ward Committeeman, running unopposed in 2012 & reelected to this role unopposed in 2016. 
 
Lopez is the first elected openly gay Latino in Chicago. This is especially significant as Lopez resides with his husband Hugo on the southwest side of Chicago. They have been together for nearly thirteen years and currently have seven – yes, SEVEN – dogs in their Brighton Park home: Chloe, Olivia, Lady, Lily, Monroe, Tomas & Oscar. 
 
As alderman, Lopez serves as Vice Chairman of the Human Relations Committee and sits on the Aviation, Housing/Real Estate, Transportation, Budget, Zoning, and Budget committees as well.
