Rebecca Miller

Somerville City Council, Ward 7

Becca will be the first out LGBTQ leader elected to serve Ward 7!

Becca is a proud bi woman, democratic socialist, renter, and a climate justice organizer. Becca is running for Somerville City Council because the climate, housing, and food security crises worsened by the pandemic require transformative governance. Becca believes in building up our community to be more equitable and sustainable, and believes in a community-based response to the problems we face. As City Councilor, Becca will bring her experience in state level advocacy to this work, and she commits to act with transparency and accountability in everything she does. Becca works as a campaign manager at a Massachusetts food systems policy nonprofit. She has been working with and for low income families to increase state funding for the Healthy Incentives Program, which gives folks with SNAP (formerly food stamps) benefits extra money every month to spend on fruits and vegetables from local farmers. Becca is excited to be meeting more of her neighbors and to build a more equitable, sustainable, and healthy Somerville for all!
