Richard was the first openly gay person elected to public office in Northern Michigan.
Richard Renner has lived in Northern Michigan most of his adult life and is deeply rooted in Northern Michigan values and common sense. He has extensive experience in the private sector – Managing several highly successful, multiplex movie theaters and working with small businesses to create effective marketing strategies. Richard served as a Congressional Aide, representing the values of hard-working taxpayers and helping Seniors and Veterans obtain the medical care and benefits they earned.
Richard previously served as a Missaukee County Commissioner and as a gubernatorial appointee to the Michigan Commission on Juvenile Justice. On November 6, 2012, he was elected Pioneer Township Supervisor. Richard is currently running unopposed for a third term as Supervisor.
