Mike will be a voice for equality in the Vermont legislature!
Mike Rice is a neighbor, an advocate, and a candidate running to be a part of the next generation of Vermont leaders. Mike first came to Vermont to work as an apprentice on a small farm, helping with the harvest and learning to make value-added products to support the farm’s viability. While there, he was inspired by several generations of Vermont farmers, coming together, innovating, making a living, and responsibly stewarding the land.
After that season on the farm, Mike put down roots here. He went to work coordinating operations for a dairy farm and creamery while attending Vermont Law School, where he earned his Master’s degree in Food and Agriculture Law and Policy. While there, Mike also served as a Research Assistant with the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems. Now, he works with the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA), collaborating on regional policy solutions and securing funding for projects on community food security, climate crisis mitigation, food system equity, pollinator protection, and soil health.
When Mike’s partner Sean went to work at JK Adams in Dorset, they were thrilled to settle into the community here. Now, Mike is running to represent this community in the state legislature. He is ready to go to work and fight for us in Montpelier. He is ready to be part of the next generation of leadership for our towns, our region, and Vermont.
