Biography

Bob Wofford taught English at Las Cruces High school from 1983 until 2017 when he retired. He was also an Advanced Education Services gifted and talented facilitator during the last five years of his career, while still teaching part-time in the classroom. Over the years, he has taught most of the courses in the English curriculum, and also taught part time in the English Department at New Mexico State University for the first several years of his career.  
 
He has a Master of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from New Mexico State University. While at Las Cruces High, he sponsored the Amnesty International Club for over thirty years. The club participated in the annual Day of Silence for LGBTQ youth since 2005 and was an affirming and welcoming space for LGBTQ students. Bob also co-sponsored the Gay Straight Alliance for the last several years of his teaching, working with club members on social and visibility campaigns. He served on numerous school and district committees for Las Cruces Public Schools over the years, and was department head of English at LCHS for several years. He also received a year-long Fulbright Teaching Exchange to teach English and drama at E.L. Crossley Secondary School in Ontario, Canada. Bob has consulted for the Advanced Placement Program of The College Board in AP English Literature since 2004, teaching teachers how to teach Advanced Placement English.
