Ryan will be the third openly LGBTQ state legislator in Kansas
Ryan Holmquist is proud to be a lifelong Kansan with deep ties to the Salina area. He is a fifth-generation farmer and rancher and operates the 152-year-old Holmquist farm and ranch in nearby Smolan.
Holmquist holds degrees in music from Bethany College and the University of Kansas and has taught choir at Salina Central High School for the past twelve years. While at USD 305, Ryan has been recognized many times for excellence in teaching.
As a proud resident of Salina and a leader in his community, Ryan is committed to helping Salina residents thrive. He is running to represent the 69th district in the Kansas State House in order to expand Medicaid, invest in public schools, and lower the food sales tax. As a lifelong farmer and educator, and working in both the private and public sectors, Holmquist has a unique perspective when it comes to the lives of working Kansans.
