Biography
As a nationally recognized attorney, Alejandra Salinas has protected Harris County elections from partisan interference, reversed discriminatory school policies, and stood up to Donald Trump’s illegal executive orders targeting law firms.
As a high school student, Alejandra stood up to threats of suspension and secured a campus-wide forum for students to speak out about a federal immigration bill that was a threat to her local community.
As president of the College Democrats of America, Alejandra courageously came out as an LGBTQ Latina on national television during the 2012 Democratic National Convention – to inspire LGBTQ youth to find their own voices.
Alejandra’s grandfather began life picking cotton and became a colonel in the United States Air Force. Her great grandfather came to this country with nothing and became a successful businessman, community leader, and philanthropist. Her family’s pursuit of the American Dream continues to shape her vision today.
Alejandra serves on the board of Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce and Second Mile Haiti, a non-profit that works to provide pre-natal and family care to mothers and families in Haiti.
Alejandra and her wife Elizabeth are members of St. Philip Presbyterian Church and law partners at Susman Godfrey LLP.
