Biography

Christian Shaughnessy is an experienced community organizer, city commissioner, and county housing expert from San Bernardino, CA. He is a proud graduate of Ward 3’s San Bernardino Valley College (where he served as co-chair of the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan) and the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was born to a working class family, with his mother a Filipina immigrant and father a union organizer. Tragically, Christian lost a friend to gun violence in 2019 just 3 blocks from his childhood home. After that, he knew San Bernardino needed change once and for all. Christian has dedicated years mentoring at-risk and unhoused youth and worked as a paid staffer for the 2020 Bernie Sanders campaign He is the only candidate in this race who has pledged to refuse corporate PAC, developer, and billionaire money. He would be the first Asian American Pacific Islander city council member, the first openly LGBTQ+ councilmember, the first Filipino city councilmember, and one of the youngest city councilmembers in San Bernardino’s history. With your help, we can elect a homegrown community leader to fight for working families and small businesses in San Bernardino and not developers, corporate PACS, or billionaires.
